Cheney Aide Likely to Be Indicted Today; Rove Under Scrutiny - New York Times

Cheney Aide Likely to Be Indicted Today; Rove Under Scrutiny - New York Times

And they tried to impeach Clinton for getting a BJ in the oval office. The Republicans were feeling a bit too invincible, and that cockiness will lead to their downfall. First DeLay, now Libby, Rove... I want front row seats for the impeaching of Cheney and Bush. Go Democracy, go!

Latest Bush Ratings Skim Upper Levels of Hell

A recent CBS poll has found George W. Bush's overall job approval rating has reached the lowest ever measured, dropping to 37%. The Republican reality distortion field is still strong however, with 79% of his own party members quite content to sit back and let Evil George rack up unprecidented debt, wage war, ignore human rights, scale back personal liberties, destroy the environment, and help his buddies get rich: all in the name of God and family values. If I believed in Satan, I'd think he'd be very proud.

Bush Aides Buy Propaganda (Surprise, Surprise)

There's a damning article in Friday's New York Times about the White House paying for favourable news coverage.
In a blistering report, the investigators, from the Government Accountability Office, said the administration had disseminated 'covert propaganda' in the United States, in violation of a statutory ban.
Does this actually surprise anybody? A real surprise would be some actual consequences. "The Bush administration violated the law by buying favorable news coverage of President Bush's education policies, by making payments to the conservative commentator Armstrong Williams" among other things. So what happens next? "The ruling comes with no penalty, but under federal law the department is supposed to report the violations to the White House and Congress." Oooooo, I bet Evil George is shaking in his snake-skin cowboy boots.

Now, I don't think this is unique to the Bush administration. Everyone has their spin doctors. It just pisses me off that people are so easily swayed by a little propaganda. Darth Bush just has to wave a magical hand and say things like, "We will not be paying commentators to advance our agenda. Our agenda ough to be able to stand on its own two feet," and half the United States just believes him by default.

We're turning into a world where it doesn't actually matter what you do or what you say, but rather how your are perceived by people who really aren't paying any attention to world events and are willing to accept a fabricated fascade because it takes less energy. Oh, wait, that sounds suspiciously like junior high. And high school. And university. And business... **sigh**

Leave Congress Without DeLay!

I've never liked Tom DeLay. Especially after the giant tsunami smashed the Asian Pacific. Tom got up on Capitol Hill and read from the Bible, Matthew 7:21-27. The entire passage was about getting into the kingdom of heaven, and how if you were foolish enough to build your houses on sand, you would be punished. (Meat Eating Leftist has the full story here) Just short of coming out and saying it, DeLay implied that the tsunami victims were picked off by god for being non-believers. It's just this sort of piety and pride and small-mindedness, and fucktitude that makes Tom a bigotted asshole.

Well, finally Tom DeLay has to step down from his House Majority Leadership in Congress because, hey, he's being indicted on conspiracy charges. He seems to think this is just a minor annoyance and that he'll be re-instated auto-magically as soon as this Democrat-inspired witch-hunt is over. I hope he looks down and notices that the rock he built his house on is made of sandstone.

Follow the Daily DeLay blog for breaking details on Tom's Republican Misadventures.

Bill Bennett is Not an Anomaly

Ellen Elaborates has an interesting article at News Hounds about Bill Bennett's comments on radio that, "You could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down." The dumbass still believes that people are only offended by his abortion statement, which he clearly didn't mean because it "would be an impossible, rediculous and morally reprehensible thing to do." Of course he had to add that the "crime rate would go down."

Wake up Bennett, people are offended by the very way that you THINK. Making blanket, radical and racist statements about abortion or African-Americans is nothing new, especially in the Republican camp, but it seems to be more and more acceptible. Look at Fox News, look at Rush Limbaugh, look at all those fuckers that talk down to everyone, take the moral high-ground, and then end up charged with gambling, prostitution, drug, or fraud offenses... What's reprehensible here is that Bennett is allowed to have his own radio program and that people listen to it.

Shut him down by turning him off.

Democrats Suck. Republicans Suck 2% more!

An interesting article at Dean's World talks about Gallup's recent findings that both major American political parties are battered. There is so much partisan bullshit to wade through, and the electorate is so jaded, that elected officials can get away with murder, favouritism, lies, you name it. As long as they aren't gay. Or poor. Or god forbid, moderate.
